Who we are and what we do

The Stile Company is a practice of landscape architects, founded in 1994, specialising in environmental planning and art; especially to provide commemorative and celebratory features that will enhance the natural environment and contribute to local communities in a practical way.  Environmental planning and landscape architecture projects are focused on integrating development with the natural environment.

We are establishing a reputation for applying ethical and sustainability guidelines to achieve excellent work that is environmentally sound.  Our project work respects and enhances rural as well as urban landscapes; focusing on countryside character and conservation, landscape heritage and local distinctiveness. 

Mary Dale BSc(Hons), Dip LA, MIHort, MA, MLI is Principal of the practice.  She has more than 30 years experience of landscape architecture, gained in both the public sector and private consultancy.  Alice Pickering MA (Cantab) is co-Director of the company. 

In addition to our national network of over 100 artist craftspeople, we work in association with other environmental specialists including ecologists, arboriculturists and soil scientists.
