Hand Carved Lettering - in wood, stone and glass Hand carved lettering is a delight to look at and examine in detail.  Each letter is individually designed.  It is inventive.  The size, shape and spacing of each letter can be adjusted to produce an overall pleasing design.  It is usually V-incised, each letter taking many hundreds of individually crafted strokes with hammer and sharp chisel to produce a crisp and distinct edge. Letters and numbers can subsequently be painted or gilded.

Unique Hand Carved House Sign 

An unusual house sign, which features doves flying against a portcullis has been made from hand-carved and coloured oak which has been traditionally pegged and jointed. Our woodcarver worked with a local blacksmith who made the metal frame. The Stile Company had to obtain Listed Building Consent and also an Oversailing Licence during a lengthy statutory process.
