Environmental & Ethical Policies

The Stile Company is environmentally responsible, adhering to ethical guidelines in the projects we undertake and endeavouring to work with sustainably produced materials in the design of projects that will harmonise with and enhance their natural settings.
 

·    Purchase our electricity from a ‘green’ source; and our telephone services from The Phone Co-op, an ethical provider.
 

·    Use recycled paper and stationery and print double-sided as much as possible; and re-use waste to print the blank side for draft / file copies
 

·   Reduce and recycle our own waste as much as possible (paper, glass, metal, plastics, printer cartridges, green waste compost).  We send an absolute minimum to landfill. 
 

·     Buy green, recycled and / or fair trade products where possible
 

·     Reduce paper wastage by working as electronically as we can
 

·     Minimise water usage; toilet cisterns have ‘Hippos’ fitted and we use water butts.
 

·    Reduce the number of journeys as much as we can and share transport – and where possible,  and where feasible (not always possible if our sites are in remote locations), use public transport. Our own cars are small economical models.
 

·    Our office / admin centre is based ‘at home’ in a rural village – thus keeping transport and maintenance to a minimum – and adding to the rural economy.  We buy locally and help to support local services – milk delivery, rural post office and village shop etc.  We also grow many of our own vegetables and eat seasonal produce.
 

·    The artist craftspeople we work with are also all environmentally aware and adhere to sustainability
 guidelines
